A collimating plate for directing a tool towards a target characteristic is disclosed. The aiming plate features a first and a second surface and has a reversible attachment mechanism for attaching the implant to direct one of the first and second surfaces to face the implant. A first through hole for receiving the tool extends along the first hole axis from the first surface to the second surface. A second through hole for receiving the tool is positioned adjacent to the first through hole and extends along the second hole axis from the first surface to the second surface. The through holes are arranged so that the first hole axis branches with respect to the second hole axis.
