Disclosed are a sludge dryer and a method for drying sludge. The sludge dryer according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a reaction chamber in which a drying reaction of sludge occurs as the sludge is introduced; a housing surrounding the outer circumference surface of the reaction chamber and separated from the reaction chamber; and a first spiral steam guide unit located between the reaction chamber and the housing and providing a transfer path of steam.
