Disclosed are an electric furnace with improved desulfurizing ability and a method for desulfurizing molten metal. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the electric furnace with improved desulfurizing ability comprises: a body; and a molten metal discharge port formed in a lower portion of the body and discharging molten metal stored in the body to a ladle. Moreover, a particulate material intake port to take desulfurizing and deoxidizing agents formed on a side surface of the molten metal discharge port. Therefore, excellent desulfurizing performance can be obtained by taking the desulfurizing agent into molten metal in discharging to perform direct desulfurizing, and in the ladle, CaO-SiO_2-based slag of low basicity is manufactured to generate a low melting point inclusion to prevent a nozzle from being blocked by a spinel inclusion and to prevent a product surface defect.
