An exhaust gas after-treatment system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an exhaust pipe; a nitrogen oxide occlusion catalyst (Lean NOx Trap; LNT) device installed in the exhaust pipe and configured to occlude and store nitrogen oxides generated by lean combustion of an engine with a built-in catalyst; and a plasma generating device configured to, in a state where an engine is idle-stopped, make a plasma reaction in mixed gas of fuel and reaction air and to supply the resultant produced gas to a nitrogen oxide occlusion catalyst device so as to regenerate the catalyst contained in the nitrogen oxide occlusion catalyst device.
