The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating allergic disease, such as asthma or atopy, which contains baicalein as an active ingredient for controlling thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP)-mediated signal transduction. According to the present invention, the baicalein component extracted from scutellaria controls intracellular signal transduction by TSLP to inhibit phosphorylation of intracellular signal transducer and activator of transcription 5 (STAT5), and also suppresses a reaction between TSLP and TSLP receptor (TSLPR), thereby enabling production of pharmaceutical compositions capable of effectively inhibiting the occurrence of inflammatory reactions in allergic or asthmatic disease. In addition, by containing a compound having synergistic effects with baicalein, the pharmaceutical composition can effectively inhibit occurrence of inflammation reactions in allergic diseases such as asthma or atopy.
