The present invention relates to an apparatus to test vibration of an air compressor for a railway vehicle, and a counterweight design method using the same. According to the present invention, the apparatus to test vibration of an air compressor for a railway vehicle comprises: a crankshaft; a pair of pistons coupled to the crankshaft with a constant gap; a pair of counterweights coupled to the crankshaft. The apparatus includes: a motor connected to the crankshaft; a bearing coupled to both ends of the crankshaft; a plurality of springs attaching one end to the bearing and fixating the other end to support the crankshaft; and an acceleration sensor to measure angular acceleration in accordance with rotation of the crankshaft. Moreover, the method comprises: (a) a step of attaching a dummy to the counterweight; (b) a step of measuring the angular acceleration of the crankshaft in accordance with a mass or a position of the dummy by the acceleration sensor; and (c) a step of outputting data on a display by a control unit, wherein the data corresponds to the crankshaft with the minimum angular acceleration based on a result which the steps (a) and (b) are repetitively performed while changing the mass or the position of the dummy. Accordingly, provided is an effect capable of remarkably reducing vibration of an air compressor of a railway vehicle.
