AUTOMATIC AIR LEAKAGE TESTING APPARATUS FOR AIR BRAKE CONTROL VALVE OF RAILWAY VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus capable of correctly detecting or testint the performance of a control valve of railway vehicle, by detecting the smallest leakage of air from the contol valve of railway vehicle, by detecting the smallest leakage of air from the control valve by use of level differences between three tanks forming a circulation tank, in the manner not affected by oil, moisture, dust contained in air or intrusion of excessive air. CONSTITUTION:The testing apparatus of this invention is equipped with three tanks of leaked air reserving tank 1, excessive air discharging tank 2 and automatic detecting tank 3. In testing the leakage of air from a control valve, a test signal is given to circuit 15, whereupon air inlet valve 12 is opened. Here, excessive air discharging valve 13 is opened after excessive air is discharged from the valve 13 for a certain while until air leaked from the control valve is stabilized, so that leakage air from leakage air introducing pipe 4 is introduced into automatic leakage tester 16. In the above arrangement, if liquid level in tank 1 is lowered, standard liquid level in tank 3 is raised. When the liquid level in tank 3 reaches ''malfunctioning'' detecting line 6 within a prescribed time period, detector 17 is set into operation and indication lamp 18 is lighted, whereby it is detected that the control valve tested is defective.
