Conversion of arrays of structures (AOS) into structures (SOA) of structures increases the efficiency of transmission from AOS to SOA. A similar technique can be used to efficiently convert from SOA to AOS. The controller performing the conversion computes the partition size as the greatest common divisor between the structure size of the structures in the AOS and the number of banks in the first memory device and transfers the data based on the partition size rather than the structure size. The controller can read the number of partition sizes of the elements from a number of different structures to ensure that the total data transmission bandwidth is used for each transmission.
