Bill counter with fault diagnosis function and fault diagnosis method

The present invention relates to a bill counter having a failure diagnosing function which makes an operator easily check a failure of CIS installed inside a bill counter in order to easily do maintenance of the bill counter; and a method for diagnosing a failure. The bill counter comprises: a frame in which a cover is installed on the outside thereof; a loading unit in which the frame is installed; a first transfer unit which transfers bills from the loading unit one by one or withdraws the bill reversely; a second transfer unit which is installed in the frame to count and separate bills along with the first transfer unit, and is placed in the loading unit; a bill denominating and identifying unit which determines counting, checking denomination, and whether bills are genuine; a control unit which selects and displays power on/off, different denomination, identification of forged bills, cumulative counts, coefficient settings, mixed coefficients, selection of functions, input releases, identification of checks, and power saving; a guide unit which is installed between the bill denominating and identifying unit and a stacker unit in order to be introduced into the stacker unit; a stacker unit which is installed in a lower side direction of the control unit to load bills; and a failure determination member which is injected into the bill counter in order to determine what form an image read through a CIS sensor is displayed through a display. Through a display installed in a front of a bill counter, a failure of the CIS sensor installed inside the bill counter can be check, so as to determine whether images are distorted by foreign substances or the CIS sensor is broken, and accordingly, maintenance could be easy.
