Disclosed are a mobile device performing random access using a plurality of antenna arrays and a random access method thereof. The disclosed mobile terminal comprises: a preamble generation unit for generating N_1 (an integer of 2 or more) random access preambles; and N_a (an integer of 2 or more smaller than N_1) antenna arrays for generating N_1 transmission beams in one or more time sections through beamforming. In each of the one or more time sections, the N_a antenna arrays generate N_a transmission beams among the N_1 transmission beams, and transmit N_a random access preambles among the N_1 random access preambles through the N_a transmission beams.
