摘要
The present invention relates to a molecular marker for selecting tomato plants resistant to a powdery mildew disease. The objective of the present invention is to identify species of main tomato powdery mildew pathogens in Korea, and develop a gene-based molecular marker by discovering a gene for regulating resistance from a tomato gene resource (KNU-12) resistant to the species. As a result, a pathogen causing a powdery mildew disease naturally occurring in tomato growing areas in Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do and Muju-gun, Jeollanam-do in Korea is estimated to be Oidium neolycopersici. The resistance of KNU-12 shows that a novel allele of the ol-2 gene, a single recessive gene, is a resistance mechanism. The inventors of the present invention discovered allele variants of the ol-2 gene and developed SCAR and dCAPS markers associated with the allele variants. The developed markers are expected to be effectively used in marker-assisted selection for development of powdery mildew-resistance varieties made of KNU-12.
