Nonlinear optical ionic crystals having new structure

The present invention provides a nonlinear optical crystal based on a novel non-linear optical ionic derivative comprising a benzothiazolium cation and a counter anion. A benzothiazolium structure has stronger electron-withdrawing properties than pyridinium or quinolium, providing a unique molecular arrangement for maximum nonlinear optical properties. Further, the above structure is capable of producing a crystal of a large size, exhibits a wide range of light transmittance, and has excellent THz wave generation efficiency.
