(Hereinafter referred to as LCA) concentration in a biological sample derived from a subject as an index. That is, an LCA concentration in a biological sample collected from a subject is measured, and an assay method for discriminating a hepatocyte injury type, a bile acid type, and a mixed type of liver type by using the measured LCA concentration as an indicator is provided.
