FIELD: technological processes.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of welding production. To determine the width of the zone of concentrators of tensile residual weld stresses, two steel plates are welded butt-welded with a seam consisting of two sections. Identify the position of the two concentrators, respectively from the first and second sections of the seam. Along the lines running parallel to the weld at a distance of not more than 10 mm from one another, the values of the transversal seam of tensile stresses are determined. Diagrams of these stresses are plotted, along which lines are selected in which the voltage peaks from the concentrators induced by the first and second sections of the weld are separated, and there is a difference between the peaks. For the width of the zone of influence of concentrators, the distance from the welded seam to the furthest from it line with separately located peaks separated by a difference in values on the transverse stress diagram is taken.EFFECT: invention can be used in the design and manufacture of welded structures.1 cl, 2 dwg
