The invention applies to the field of polymer chemistry and relates to a wear material that can be used in the region of the contact surfaces between a shaft and a hub. The aim of the present invention is to specify a wear material for shaft/hub regions, in the case of which shaft/hub regions corrosion and corrosion-caused binding of the shaft/hub materials are largely prevented. The aim is achieved by means of a wear material consisting of at least one plastic layer, which is arranged on the contact surfaces of the shaft and of the hub, wherein the plastic realizes at least a partial electrochemical isolation and separation between the materials of the shaft and of the hub. The aim is also achieved by means of a method, in which a plastic is applied at least to parts of the contact surfaces of the shaft and/or of the hub in the form of a film or in the form of a solution, with subsequent drying to form a layer, or in the form of a coating material that is coated or impregnated with the plastic and that is cured/cross-linked.
