FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: photocathode production includes heating and degassing of the substrate, cooling the photocathode substrate to the normal climatic conditions (NCC), depositing the main silver layer, re-spraying the silver layer onto the cathode substrate with the photosensitive layer, heating the silver with the photosensitive layer, and sensitizing with oxygen, the main silver layer is treated with cesium at an operating temperature of 120°C to 160°C, cooling the resulting layer is carried out to the NCC and activated by repeatedly alternating supply of cesium and oxygen, then at the NCC, the silver is sputtered again on the previously formed photosensitive layer before the photocurrent falls by 60-90%, warming up from 120°C to 160°C of the deposited layer of silver, and this layer is activated repeatedly and alternately with cesium and oxygen.;EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the spectral sensitivity of the silver-oxygen-cesium photocathode in the infrared region of the spectrum.;2 dwg
