FIELD: technological processes.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the continuous steel casting. Granulated slag-forming mixture contains a fluorine-containing (12–16 % by weight) and carbon-containing (22–28 % by weight) materials, silicate block (27–31 % by weight), cement (13–18 % by weight), binding and stabilizing additives for granulation (2–5 % by weight), granulated blast furnace slag (0.3–4.0 % by weight). Addition of 0.3–4.0 % colemanite by weight to the mixture helps reduce the temperatures of phase transformations. Mixture has a melting point 1,090±30 °C, basicity (CaO/SiO2) – 0.68–0.88, provides slag melt viscosity 0.251–0.420 Pa×s at 1,300 °C.;EFFECT: improved steel macrostructure, reduced billet waste of the high-carbon steel grades by surface defects by improving the lubrication of the CCM crystallizer, increased assimilative power of the mixture with respect to non-metallic inclusions.;1 cl, 2 tbl, 1 ex
