FIELD: shipbuilding.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of maritime transport and the methods of carrying out experimental studies on models of icebreakers and ice navigation vessels in ice experimental basins. Method includes the preparation in the ice basin of ice fields simulating various ice conditions, the formation of an ice channel in the selected ice field, filling it with separate ice fragments and the realization in it of the movement of the model of a large-capacity vessel with the subsequent measurement of the distance of the braking of the model from the moment of the beginning of its braking. Ice channel in the ice field is formed by conducting a self-propelled model of the leading icebreaker, made on the same scale with the model of a large-capacity vessel, on the selected ice field. In the process of conducting a model of the leading icebreaker, the rotational speed of its propulsion system is set in accordance with the predicted speed of the icebreaker in selected ice conditions. Then, in the ice channel created in this way, self-propelled tests of the model of a large-capacity vessel are carried out, sequentially choosing the modes of operation of its propulsion system and measuring the braking distance of the model.;EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing the reliability of the results of model tests of models of large-capacity vessels in the ice experimental basin and obtaining objective experimental data by creating conditions for carrying out a model experiment similar to full-scale ones.;1 cl, 1 dwg
