A system for overcoming noise and vibration in a vehicle (10), comprising: a housing (20) defining an interior cavity (22); a compliant member (24) attached to the housing (20); internal cavity (24) further defined; a magnet (40) having a magnetic field; a coil (42); wherein one of the magnet and coil in the cavity is secured to the housing; the other of the magnet and coil being positioned in the cavity and adapted to move relative to the one in response to movement of the compliant member relative to the housing to move magnet and coil in the magnetic field; characterized in that the system further comprises a resistor (46) in electrical communication with the coil (42) to form a closed electrical circuit (48); wherein relative movement of the other of the magnet and coil in the magnetic field induces a current in the circuit (48) that generates a counteracting magnetic field; and wherein the circuit (48) has no electronic controller.
