Apparatus for modifying an endoscope, modified endoscope and its use in gastrointestinal endoscopy and a method for suturing a wound

According to the invention, a device for modifying an endoscope is provided. The device is composed of an elongate cap, a pusher unit and a lid, the lid being fixedly connected to the proximal end of the elongate cap and the pusher unit being rotatably disposed within the elongate cap. The device according to the invention can be placed on a conventional endoscope, in particular a single-channel endoscope, whereby a tangential sewing of translumial wounds becomes possible with the thus modified endoscope. The use of the device according to the invention in gastrointestinal endoscopy and in the suturing of a transluminal wound is proposed. Furthermore, a method for suturing a transluminal wound with the endoscope modified according to the invention is presented.
