A backlight device (20) comprises: - at least one row of a plurality of light sources (22); - a reflector (30) arranged so as to partially reflect at least the light emitted by the light sources (22); and - a diffuser (25) arranged so as to receive at least the light reflected by the reflector (30). The reflector (30) comprises at least one wall (38) extending along the light sources (22) and having a shape having at least two different orientations. An associated image generation unit, head-up display and vehicle are also proposed.
