This system (1) for assisting driving a railroad vehicle comprising: a camera (2) mounted on board the vehicle and adapted to acquire a plurality of optical images of the signalling signals located along the track on which the rail vehicle travels; and a display device (4) comprising a screen (6) located in the cabin and adapted to display an image corresponding to an optical image acquired by the camera.
