A method and system for measuring a rowing profile

A system for measuring a rower profile of a rower comprises one or more sensors located on an oar for measuring one or more forces imparted on the oar by the rower in use at a predetermined time; one or more motion tracking devices for determining a position of the oar in space at the predetermined time; a processing module for interfacing with the one or more sensors and a remote monitoring device; a determining the rower profile from the sensor data and the one or more motion tracking devices. At least one of the sensors is preferably in the handle of the oar and may determine a hand position of a user; the motion tracking device may be provided by a MEMS chip. An oar including a sensor to measure force and a motion tracking system is also disclosed as is a method of measuring a rower profile.
