A method for anticipating hiring needs comprises obtaining variables associated with a hiring manager 502 (user activity of the manager with the system, hiring behaviour based on previous candidates, feedback information from the hiring manager of a previously employed candidate and date information relating to seasonal hiring trends etc.), determining that a particular job requires a job listing 504, generating said listing 506 and sending it to the hiring manager 508. The present invention aims to reduce the burden on hiring managers who have to sift through multiple candidates, and provide a more reliable method of selecting an appropriate candidate based on quantitative analysis. The invention therefore also relates to aggregating and analysing candidate data (test, multi-media etc.) and recommend the most suitable candidate/s for a given post based on how well a generated candidate profile (based on candidate traits from multiple sources) matches a generated job profile (based on historical job data).
