The invention relates to a rail vehicle (1) with a bridge element (6, 65) capable of elastic deformation in a partial zone or capable of elastic deformation as a whole. The bridge element is used for bridging a gap (S1, S2) between a bottom (10) of the rail vehicle and a platform (15) in a region of a door (5), and/or for bridging a height difference (H1, H2) between the bottom of the rail vehicle and the platform in the region of the door. The bridge element is mounted to the rail vehicle from outside below the door. A first guiding element (22, 24, 28) is constructed or mounted on the bridge element and can be in contact with a second guiding element (23, 30) disposed on the platform, and therefore a force can be applied to the bridge element when the first and second guiding elements interact with each other and the bridge element is deformed through the force.
