In the event of a result showing that the calculated substitution target cannot be achieved with the dialysis parameters at that time, the flow rate of blood, dialysate and/or substituate is adapted so as to achieve, as closely as possible, the substitution target in a defined treatment time, or to change the length of treatment time as little as possible for a defined substitution target.
