UNBALANCE EXCITER WITH ONE OR MORE ROTATABLE UNBALANCES

The invention relates to an unbalance exciter (16) for producing a time-variable bifrequent exciter force. The exciter force is produced by superimposing a basic exciter force, which is time-variable with a basic frequency (f1), onto an additional exciter force (f2) which is time-variable with a double base frequency. According to the invention, the unbalance exciter (16) is designed such that the phasing between the basic exciter force and the additional exciter force can be adjusted. It has been shown that the use of such unbalance exciters in compaction devices for soft or highly elastoplastic undergrounds, such as for example soil and asphalt, can result in a significant increase of the compaction power compared to corresponding compaction devices provided with currently known unbalance exciters. The result is a significant reduction of the weight of the machine whilst retaining the compaction power.
