The device of the invention consists of a combination of the following means: a means for creating and maintaining a vortex by putting into motion the liquid containing solid particles or the mixture of liquids of different densities, the shape and/or the ratio between the dimensions of the means following the golden ratio φ; a buffer tank in which the vortex is created, the shape and/or the ratio between the dimensions of the tank following the golden ratio φ, thereby allowing the vortex to be maintained and, if necessary, created; and a collector centred on the axis of the tank, for collecting the solid particles concentrated at the bottom of the vortex.
