To provide nucleic acid molecules from the genome of Dirofilaria spp. nematodes that contain single nucleotide polymorphisms related to reduced responsiveness of the nematodes to macrocyclic lactones.SOLUTION: A method for determining the genotype of a Dirofilaria immitis nematode comprises contacting a nematode nucleic acid molecule with at least one oligonucleotide having a length of 15-300 nucleotides of a specific sequence, or a reverse complement thereof, where the at least one oligonucleotide comprises a polymorphic site at a specific position.SELECTED DRAWING: None
