To provide methods for detecting patients with eclampsia or preeclampsia by detecting EDLF in a patient.SOLUTION: A method for administering digoxin immune Fab (DIF) to treat eclampsia or preeclampsia comprises the steps of: (a) conducting a digoxin-immune antibody assay on a patient suffering from eclampsia or preeclampsia; (b) determining whether or not the patient is EDLF positive based on the assay; and (c) administering digoxin immune Fab (DIF) to the patient if it is determined that the patient is EDLF positive.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
