To provide a base unit, a disk drive device, a base unit manufacturing method, and a disk drive device manufacturing method capable of preventing combustion products from being generated and scattered from the electrodeposition coating film on an inner wall of housing due to influence of heat at the time of joining, and keeping clean the inside of the housing.SOLUTION: In a disk drive device 100, a base unit 20 includes a support portion that supports a motor, a bottom plate portion, and a wall portion 23. The bottom plate portion extends radially outward from the support portion. The wall portion 23 extends upward from an outer peripheral portion of the bottom plate portion and forms a rectangular-shaped opening in plan view. Further, surfaces of the bottom plate portion and the wall portion 23 include a covering surface covered with an electrodeposition coating film 29 and an exposed surface 23c where a material of the base unit 20 is exposed from the electrodeposition coating film 29.
