PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ocular optical system which offers a high observation magnification and good aberration performance, and to provide an optical device and a method of manufacturing the ocular optical system.;SOLUTION: An ocular optical system ELE comprises a front group G1 having positive refractive power and a rear group G2 having positive refractive power in order from the observation object side, where the front group G1 and the rear group G2 are spaced apart by a distance greater than any inter-lens distances within the front group G1 and the rear group G2. The rear group G2 has at least one lens component. At least either of the front group G1 and the rear group G2 consists of two lens components.
