To further enhance detection accuracy of a photoelectric sensor.SOLUTION: A diagnosis method of a photoelectric sensor includes: emitting light with predetermined flickering patterns from a light projecting part of a photoelectric sensor to be diagnosed (S30); comparing flickering patterns of light received by a light receiving part of the photoelectric sensor to be diagnosed with the predetermined flickering patterns of the light emitted from the light projecting part (S40); determining that the photoelectric sensor to be diagnosed has no abnormality when the flickering patterns of the light received by the light receiving part coincide with the predetermined flickering patterns (S50); and determining that the photoelectric sensor has abnormality because it is considered that, for example, the light receiving part detects light different from the light emitted from the light projecting part, when both of the flickering patterns do not coincide with each other (S60). Accordingly, detection omission of the photoelectric sensor caused by the fact that the light receiving part receives light different from the light emitted from the light projecting part can be avoided, and detection accuracy of the photoelectric sensor can further be enhanced.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
