To provide a synthesis method capable of synthesizing group XV metal sulfa halide and/or group XV seleno halide at lower temperature and/or shorter time compared to conventional methods, and a compound useful for the synthesis method.SOLUTION: There are provided a compound represented by the following general formula (1) constituted by Group XV element cation A, Group XVI element anion X, Group XVII element anion Y, and organic molecule anion Z, AXY(Z)(1), wherein a represents 0a1, in which (1) amount of the anion X is 35 to 65 mol% in total amount of anion, and (2) total amount of the anion Y and the organic molecule anion Z is 35 to 65 mol% in total amount of the anion, and a synthesis method of Group XV metal sulfa halide and/or Group XV metal seleno halide using the compound as a precursor.SELECTED DRAWING: None
