To provide a reduction degradation control method capable of accurately controlling the reduction degradability of a raw material for iron making inside of a blast furnace.SOLUTION: In an RDI test for measuring a reduction degradation index of a raw material for iron making by executing, under a predetermined condition, processing including: a temperature increase step of increasing a temperature of a raw material for iron making; a reduction step of reducing the heated raw material for iron making; a cooling step of cooling the reduced raw material for iron making; and a rolling step of rolling the cooled raw material for iron making, an elastic wave signal indicating an elastic wave propagating from the raw material for iron making is acquired, an AE energy of the elastic wave corresponding to the elastic wave signal is calculated, a reduction step AE energy that is a sum total of the AE energy generated during the reduction step is calculated, whether the reduction degradability of the raw material for iron making is controlled is determined based on the reduction step AE energy, and a reduction degradability control signal is output when it is determined that the reduction degradability of the raw material for iron making is controlled.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
