PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection device that can efficiently recover an ejection port of a liquid ejection head provided with a plurality of ejection port groups communicating with a plurality of liquid supply passages, respectively.;SOLUTION: A liquid ejection device comprises: a liquid ejection head 100; and suction means capable of sucking ink from an ejection port 101 of the liquid ejection head. The liquid ejection head comprises: a plurality of ejection port groups 101a1 to 101an in which a plurality of ejection ports are arranged; and a plurality of liquid supply passages 116a for supplying ink to each of the plurality of ejection port groups. The suction means comprises: a cap 118 provided so as to be able to come into contact with and separate from the ejection port surface; negative-pressure generating means for applying negative pressure to the cap; and moving means for moving the cap along the ejection port surface 123.
