To provide a behavior control technology for enhancing empathy with respect to a robot.SOLUTION: A robot includes: a movement determination part for determining a movement direction; a drive mechanism for executing designated movement; and an intimacy degree management part for updating an intimacy degree with respect to a mobile object. The robot backs away from a user whose intimacy degree is low and comes closer to a user whose intimacy degree is high. The intimacy degree changes according to the depth of involvement between the user and the robot. The robot includes: a recognition part for detecting a mobile object, and for determining whether the mobile object is an object of action showing shyness based on a predetermined criterion; an action determination part for, when the mobile object is the object of the action showing shyness, selecting the action showing shyness; and a drive mechanism for executing the selected action showing shyness.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
