PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-swellable copolymer latex excellent in water swellability and at the same time excellent in mechanical strength of the dried film.;SOLUTION: The water-swellable copolymer latex contains, based on the total amount (100 pts.mass) of monomer units, not less than 20 pts.mass to less than 50 pts.mass of an aliphatic conjugated diene-based monomer unit, 3 pts.mass to 30 pts.mass of an acidic functional group-containing unsaturated monomer unit, 25 pts.mass to 50 pts.mass of an alkyl unsaturated carboxylate monomer unit and 0.1 pt.mass to 30 pts.mass of a unit from a reactive emulsifier (b).;SELECTED DRAWING: None;COPYRIGHT: (C)2019,JPO&INPIT
