To provide a crane in which a length of a slinging tool is calculated and a method for calculating a length of a slinging tool.SOLUTION: A control device recognizes a distance R from a camera 25 to a hook 13 on the basis of a posture of a boom 8 and a position of the hook 13 which is grasped from an unwinding quantity of a wire rope 11; recognizes an angle θ formed by a virtual line L1 connecting the camera 25 to the hook 13 and a virtual line L2 connecting the camera 25 to luggage W on the basis of a length (a pixel distance Lp) from the hook 13 to the luggage W on an image; and calculates a length L of a slinging tool, a distance from the hook 13 to the luggage W in reality on the basis of the distance R and the angle θ.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
