To establish communication means for which the communication traffic is reduced, in order to implement a remote monitoring system for performing location-free monitoring of a power receiving and distributing facility.SOLUTION: The monitoring system for a power receiving and distributing facility includes a remote station 2 that collects information about a power receiving and distributing facility 1 which is an object to be monitored, a gateway device 3 that transmits the information in the remote station 2 to a higher-level system, and a data center 4 that stores information received from the gateway device 3. The gateway device 3 regularly collects sensor data acquired from the remote station 2, compares the latest data with the previous data, and transmits only data on the difference therebetween to the data center 4 over the internet 9.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
