The present invention relates to a method of modulating immune cells in a patient by altering the patient's microbiota. The invention also relates to methods of modulating treatment or treatment in a subject by altering the microbiota of the subject. The invention also relates to cell populations, systems, arrays, cells, RNA, kits and other means for providing same. In one example, advantageous selective targeting of particular species in human intestinal microflora using inducible nucleic acid modification is performed to effect the alteration.
