To provide a method for producing an etch resist pattern on a metallic surface.SOLUTION: A method includes applying a first liquid composition comprising a first reactive component onto a metallic surface to form a primer layer, and applying a second liquid composition comprising a second reactive component on the primer layer by image-wise printing by a nonimpact printing process to produce an etch-resist mask according to a predetermined pattern. When droplets of the second liquid composition contact the primer layer, the second reactive components causes a chemical reaction with the first reactive components so as to immobilize the droplets.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
