A system is described for computing maintenance forecasts and improving performance shortfalls for one or more components in an on-board inert gas generator (OBIGGS). OBIGGS components include an ozone converter, a heat exchanger, an inlet filter, and an air separation module (ASM). The system includes a predictive health monitoring (PHM) sensor network including at least one respective sensor coupled to each component of OBIGGS. Each at least one respective sensor is configured to output a respective data signal corresponding to the performance condition of the respective component. A control unit is operatively coupled to each component and signal coupled to each respective sensor of the PHM sensor network. The control unit includes at least one test condition algorithm configured to analyze each data signal and calculate maintenance predictions for each component. [Selected figure] Figure 1
