Presented herein are systems and methods for damping pulsations in a hydraulic system comprising a pump and a hydraulic actuator. In certain aspects, an accumulator comprising an internal volume divided into a working chamber and a containment chamber can be utilized to at least partially dampen the propagation of pulsations in the system. The actuation chamber can be fluidly coupled to the pump via a first flow path and can be fluidly coupled to the chamber of the actuator via a second flow path. The system can be designed such that the first inertance of the first flow passage is greater than the second inertness of the second flow passage. Additionally or alternatively, the system can be designed such that the resonance associated with the first inertance and the compliance of the accumulator can occur at a resonance frequency of less than 90 Hz.
