System and method for producing a multilayer board having at least two different cores and at least three cores

Method and system for manufacturing a board product characterized in that the board product has two corrugated cores and at least one embossed core. The board product may further include one or more opposing surfaces adhesively bonded to either the corrugated core, the embossed core, or both. Generally speaking, the corrugated center is characterized as a paper product exhibiting flutes formed by a cross corrugation process such that the flutes formed are perpendicular (or at least not coincident with) the machine direction of the paper product obtain. The embossed core may be characterized as a paper product exhibiting flutes formed by a linear embossing process such that the formed flutes are aligned in the machine direction of the paper product. The resulting board products are made stronger and more efficient due to the linear embossed core which exploits the natural strength of the paper in the machine direction.
