A method is described for planning positioning in a body of a puncture needle introduced percutaneously into a patient's body based on a puncture plan, the method comprising the following steps. a) locating the needle guidance means to be spatially fixed to the patient; b) spatially resolved image information of the patient; and needle guidance means attached to be spatially fixed to the patient. Generating and storing a series of cross-sectional images each including spatially resolved image information in a first coordinate system using image diagnostics; and c) at least one from the series of stored cross-sectional images. Selecting and visually displaying a cross-sectional image or a numerically generated cross-sectional image; and d) superimposing a virtual positionally variable linear trajectory based on the selected cross-sectional image; e) locating a virtual linear trajectory based on a puncture plan for obtaining a target linear trajectory in which the virtual linear trajectory crosses the needle guiding means; and f) two steps in which the target linear trajectory crosses the needle guiding means. Determining the spatial coordinates of the spaced spatial points, i.e. the crossing points numerically in the first coordinate system; and g) converting the spatial coordinates associated with the needle guiding means and the crossing points into the second coordinate system. And h) visually displaying the needle guidance means in the second coordinate system such that the crossing point is visually marked and shown on the needle guidance means. [Selection] Figure 1A
