To provide substantially homogenous populations of human retinal progenitor cells having positive surface markers SSEA4, CD73, PTK7 and PSA-NCAM.SOLUTION: Methods for preparing from human tissue a purified human retinal progenitor cell and/or substantially homogenous populations of human retinal progenitor cells use cell sorting techniques including fluorescence activated cell sorting using antibodies and fragments thereof that recognize the presence of and bind to specific cell surface markers.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
