PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for detecting a position of a rear rib plate having a titanium aluminium alloy T type structure from the front, suitable for detecting and tracking a rib plate in a high-speed welding process.SOLUTION: A scanning mechanism 7 having a detection sensor 1 is arranged above the front facing a rib plate 14; a detection sensor 1 is repeatedly scanned in a region of a T type structure 12 in a direction vertical to the rib plate 14; an excitation coil 2 generates an eddy current detectable in the rib plate 14; a detection coil pair 3 of the detection sensor 1 outputs a detected signal; the center position coordinate of the detection sensor 1 and a corresponding output signal are recorded at each detection point in a scanning process; and when the detection sensor 1 vertically passes above the rib plate 14 to be detected having a titanium aluminium alloy T type structure, a coordinate corresponding to the minimum voltage signal in the middle between two maximum voltage signals is a position of the rib plate 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
