PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate utilization of virtual currencies as means for payment to increase opportunities to manage virtual currencies.;SOLUTION: A customer's bank account includes a first bank account and a second bank account, and the first bank account includes a yen currency bank account, a plurality of foreign currency bank accounts, and one or more virtual currency bank accounts. A banking system determines whether the kind of a first currency in a payment request associated with a customer corresponds to a virtual currency or not, and determines whether a first payment amount in the payment request is within a range of a balance in the virtual currency bank account(s) of the first bank account or not in response to determining that it corresponds to a virtual currency. If it is not within the range of the balance, the banking system calculates a second payment amount in yen terms on the basis of the kind of the first currency and the first payment amount included in the payment request as well as a stored exchange rate to determine whether the second payment amount in yen terms is within a range of a balance in the second bank account or not and perform processing of payment from the second bank account in response to determining that it is within the range of the balance in the second bank account.
