To enable latitude and longitude information on an arbitrary position to be represented by a simple code excellent in utilization easiness, without limiting to a position in a divided narrow area.SOLUTION: A geographic coordinate conversion device comprises: a coding unit 12 that divides each of numerical values of latitudes and longitudes to a half to obtain a haploid value, combines numerical values from a low one digit of the respective haploid values to low n digits to constitute a numerical value sequence in 2n digits, and converts the combinations of respective low n+1-th digit numerical values of the latitude and longitude into one alphabetical letter character; and a code generation unit 14 that generates a code made of the combination of the numerical value sequence in two digits and the one alphabetical letter character, and name information corresponding to numerical values equal to or more than respective low n+2 digits of the latitude and longitude. The geographic coordinate conversion device is configured to enable information on the latitude and longitude at an arbitrary position to be expressed by a simple code made of the combination of the numerical value sequence in 2n digits, and the one alphabetical letter character, and the name information on the reference area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
